Our MIssion

Harnessing the economic power of the minority community for the benefit of the Upstate and Central New York region

UMEA is dedicated to the success of minority owned businesses throughout the Upstate New York region

The Black and Latino buying power in the region is over $170 billion. There are thousands of Black and Latino entrepreneurs offering diverse goods and services. They represent emerging, growing and mature businesses; some are home-based, some mom-and-pop, and some brick and mortar. The Upstate Minority Economic Alliance serves as an economic conduit for some of the region’s premier minority owned business enterprises.

Our Vision

We strive to create a greater regional prosperity
through enhanced minority economic opportunity

our Story

Founded in 2015, UMEA remains the only Minority Chamber of Commerce in the sixteen county Upstate New York Region

Our board of directors is comprised of some of the region's most prominent members and organizations. Sensing the need to address poverty rates in the region our board began exploring means and initiatives to combat an economy plagued by economic disparity.
